Mission: The RECT Internship is intended to provide hands on training in the theatre production process and to give them a background of the collegiate and professional level of theatre.
Eligibility: Any High school student with a GPA of at least 2.5.
Internship Period: One RECT season, July 1-June 30, with an option of continuing a following year.
Requirements: Interns will be expected to attend classes on 4 theatre subjects. Subjects are Acting, Stage Management/Directing, Auditioning, and Technical Theatre. Several class periods will be provided in each subject. Classes will be after school when not in production of a children’s show.
Interns will be expected to work on at least 1 children’s show in a technical area of their choosing. If an intern chooses Directing they will serve as co-director with Tagan.
Interns will be expected to attend and assist in the SummerStage camp. Through this assistance they can also be in the production if they so desire. The only exception will be if the intern is a participant in GSA and they will only be excused for the weeks of GSA that overlap with SummerStage.
Interns will be expected to work 2 hours per week at the theatre assisting Tagan with any theatre needs.
Benefits: Besides experience to add to their resume each intern is eligible to receive a $1000.00 scholarship awarded from the Rowland Family Foundation.
